The first Oscar's of the decade and history is already made. Great friend of the podcast Sherice joins us to talk about the ceremony that was still infected by a Parasite even though there was no host. We get into all of it. The weird speeches, random musical performances, huge upsets, and the TRIUMP OF BONG JOON-HO!
We're spicing things up with Derek's latest fanboy expedition. This time he went out to Las Vegas to check out the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo! We first get into his experience walking around the con, how it's different from other conventions, and what his highlights were. Then we get into on the floor interviews with actresses, directors, and models about what they geek about, what they like about AVN, and what stereotypes they want to break!
Special thanks to AVN, and to:
The Geekdom Gamescast is a monthly video game bonus episode in collaboration with God Hates Geeks hosted by Myke and God Hates Geek's own Travis Moody.
It's the premiere of our second season of the Gamescast and we're starting out with a BANG. Moody gets into his recent visit to the mecca of video games - Tokyo, Japan! From arcades to game stores to - basements? He gets into some new discoveries, a little bit of what the gaming culture is like, and the massive haul that he brought back to the states. We then have to talk about all the huge delays that have staggered the video game releases for 2020.
With Derek away this time Myke gets to helm the ship with the return of our now go-to host replacement Ana Mendoza! We get into all the things that Derek doesn't usually care about podcasting about - theme parks and anime! Okay, maybe not all the things. Luckily Ana is a specialist on both! We go through her latest experience getting to ride the new Rise of the Resistance ride at Galaxy's Edge! Then we geek out about Disneyland in general.
Finally Ana and Myke saw the new breakout anime movie 'Weathering With You'! It's one of the few anime movies that gets an actual release in a good amount of theaters in the US, and is a blockbuster success in Japan! We go in spoiler free for the first part and you'll be warned when we get into spoiler territory!
With the Oscars right around the corner, and the Golden Globes in our rear view its about that time we check into the new decade to see what movies are coming out! Friend of the show, Jason Avalos, joins us to give our thoughts about all the movies that are coming out from now until the end of April! There aren't any obvious standouts, but there's a few surprises along the way!
As we start of a new decade we look back on the last year of the old one and go over our favorite movies and TV shows of 2019! Then, as a bonus, we each chose our 10 favorite films of the decade!
As a treat for you we're starting off the year with an exclusive gift! Derek recently had the opportunity to attend a special screening of Avengers: Endgame and recorded the panel post-movie featuring Kevin Feige, the Russos, the screenwriters, Alan Silvestri, and MORE! It was recorded off of his phone, but Myke tweaked it to make sure that everything is completely audible, but forgive us for the lack of studio clarity. Happy New Year Everyone!
Nothing quite caps off a year than watching a new 'Star Wars' movie and yelling about it with our friends, and this might be the episode to end all episodes for the movie to end all the movies. That's right, with the end of the Skywalker Saga its only fitting that we reunite with the geeks that we started it all with! GHG-family, and good friends of the podcast Eva Ceja and Travis Moody join us to talk about Episode IX 'THE RISE OF SKYWALKER'! We go FULL SPOILERS RIGHT AWAY so, if for some reason you listen to this podcast but haven't seen the movie yet, save it! Then come listen to us talk about it with our favorite geeks!
We've been invited back into the View Askew-neverse once again to visit with our old friends Jay and Silent Bob. Going with us on this journey is friend of the podcast Matt Man from Deep Fried Geeks! We of course get into our reviews of the Popeye's Chicken Sandwhich and how it compares to Chick-Fil-A before getting into the newest offering from Kevin Smith - 'Jay and Silent Bob Reboot'.

Although it's weird to think about how long 2019 has felt (Apex Legends came out this year) it's even weirder that we're already talking about our Game of the Year. So many titles have come and gone, so we take a look back on the year in the Gamescast, all the games we somehow missed, and all the games that made news. We then get into our top games of the year! After some honorable mentions, Myke and Travis countdown their top five games of 2019 - some that we've gone into great detail about, and some that we're deep diving into for the first time.
Although we've been able to preview an entire season worth of movies in an episode, for some reason this December is stacked with enough exciting movies to spend one episode discussing. Sherice joins us to talk about some smaller movies that aren't getting enough hype, some movies Derek and Sherice have already seen that are amazing, and of course - Star Wars.
Myke is back before the Thanksgiving break to join Derek for a quick recap of all the movies they've been watching! Derek has seen Waves, Harriet, and more while Myke talks about Ford Vs Ferrari and Knives Out.
Then we get into a NON SPOILER review of the new Scorsese movie, The Irishman followed by a spoilers up until episode 3 review of The Mandalorian.
Did you think we were going to let a DC movie come and go without bringing our favorite BoiZ back onto the show? That's right - from Metasquid Studios - James and DJ, our DC Boys, are back on the podcast to talk about the latest offering from Warner Bros and DC, Joker. Coming along for the ride is our favorite actor/writer/director/producer/everything Jason Avalos! We get into spoilers for the movie from the get go so WARNING, if you have yet to see the movie and do not wish to hear what happens then maybe download this one for later!
Check out DJ and James on their shows Gamesters Pairofdice and Jamesflix, respectively, on the MetaSquid Studios feed on your favorite podcast app!
Keep up with Jason @JasonAvalos on Twitter!
The Geekdom Sportscast is our spinoff podcast format about fantasy leagues, and pro sports in general! This is the NFL Edition hosted by Derek and Robert.
It's week 6 of the NFL here on the Sportscast as Derek and a sleepy Bobby Bexar go over that questionable MNF game, the undefeated 49ers and those winning Texans. Well, that last one is just for Bobby of course.
This is a very special episode of The Geekdom Fancast, not just because the film we're talking about is one of the best reviewed movies of the year (deservingly so) but also because we were able to chat with the cast! That's right, we were able to watch a special screening of Bong Joon Ho's new masterpiece Parasite! We get into our non-spoilers review of the film and its multilayered laughs and thrills. Then we chat with Song Kang Ho, Park So Dam, and Choi Woo Shik about what they hope audiences take away from the film, what it was like shooting on such elaborate sets, and the experience of working with Bong Joon-Ho!
Warning: the interview contains MAJOR spoilers for the film, so make sure you watch it before listening!
The interview with the cast begins at 27 minutes and 51 seconds (27:51)
Welcome to the Geekdom... Spacecast? This week Derek and Myke tackle two fall, attractive people in space films of the year: Brad Pitt in Ad Astra and Natalie Portman in Lucy in the Sky. For some reason Derek watched the artsy, indie one with Lucy and Myke took on Brad Pitt and a baboon in Ad Astra. There are slight spoilers but nothing to specific.
How does one pop culture podcast cover the Emmy's if one of the hosts wasn't able to watch it? Easy. We invite a guest on who is a delight to talk to regardless of what the subject is, and that guest this episode is our friend from PopPrismPower: Ana Mendoza! Ana reconciles her hate of Game of Thrones with the fact that they took home a big prize, Derek (as the only person who watched the ceremony) talks about the lack of a host and the flow of the show, and Myke finds out just what shows everyone did watch this year.

Yes, we know it's already been three weeks but we're back! Life gets in the way but Robert and Derek are here with their first episode of the new season! Call this their pre-season episode as they talk about all the news highlights from Week 3!
Ten episodes ago (literally - Episode 151) we were challenged by our friends Jiaming Liou and Albert Patrick to participate in the /Film Summer Movie Wager. Collectively we each made our predictions of what would be the top ten movies, in their exact order, at the domestic box office from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Eventually our friend Tyler McPhail from The Grand Geek Gathering network joined us and we played a game of fantasy movie box office.
Now all three join Derek and Myke to assess the damage. We all comment on our biggest disappointments, what movies we personally loved regardless, how Pikachu pulled an unfortunate shocker, and how John Wick blasted his way through to the top.
Catch Albert on his many podcasts at whowhatwhereswhy.com including his show with Jiaming: Spoilers, Pleeze.

Now that our time with our favorite Losers seems to be done, we had to bring back our most read, hilarious and insightful friend of the show Dana Keels to talk about our collective return to Derry in Stephen King's IT Chapter 2. Dana takes us through the various changes in the book, for better or for worse, and what his own thoughts about the blockbuster horror sequel. Derek and Myke supplement their own God Hates Geeks written review and expand on how much they loved the performances, directing, while also going into more of their nit picks of the movie. We go into full spoilers off the bat, so if you haven't seen the movies stay away from this episode like a sewer drain on a rainy day.
Now that Labor Day has come and gone it's time to gear up for a new season of non-capes and tights movies and we could think of no one better to join us than past guest, friend of show, and film school alum JL Caraballo. We get into the spattering of movies that he's the most excited for including the new IT that comes out this weekend, Tigers Are Not Afraid, and more! Then Derek and Myke spare JL their own geekery and go over the rest of the movies that they're excited for up until Thanksgiving Day weekend.
If you want to read more of JL, check out his reviews on GodHatesGeeks.com

The fall season has finally begun and we've got the games to prove it. First we get into all the news coming from this year's Gamescom and PAX, because we live in a world where there's a video game conference almost every other week. We then follow up with an update on Moody's time with Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and Myke's own Blue Lions run since getting the game right after recording the last episode. Then we get on another level, psychically, as we get into Astral Chain and the Astral Plane of Remedy's Control.
As of this release, we're two episodes into the second season of AMC's horror anthology show 'The Terror' and we were lucky enough to have the showrunner, Alexander Woo on the pod! We talk to him about how he came to the show, his background in theater and how it led to television, the universal immigration themes of 'Infamy' (the title of this season of the show), and the Chinese horror stories that he was told as a kid.
We then expand on our thoughts of the pilot episode of the show, which we highly recommend you check out!
Follow Alex on Twitter @thealexwoo and make sure to check out 'The Terror: Infamy' on AMC Mondays 9/8c!

Usually the summer months are a good time to catch up on games we didn't get to play in the winter and spring, but not this year! Between the two of us we played four games that range from 10 - 100 hours! Myke talks about Wolfenstein: Youngblood and Travis weebs out with Judgment and Fire Emblem: Three Houses then we both get into Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order.
On top of that there were several fighting game announcements, just in time for GEVO (listen in to hear what that's all about) and we have a Gamescom preview!
Here we are with our SDCC 50th Birthday episode! Derek is joined by our resident foodie-geek Greg Mucino to go over the four day festival of geeks. There's cosplay, new TV shows, off-sites, that Marvel panel, and of course LINES GALORE! There was so much to cover but we tried to get to as much as we could for you all.
