The Spark of the Star Wars Fandom stays alive as we assemble our Geek Council of Guests: Travis Moody and Dana Keels from God Hates Geeks and the Traveling Nerd, Lance Paul, help us break down 'The Last Jedi'. This is your obligatory FULL SPOILER WARNING as no secret is safe from the start of the episode. We talked about how we felt about Luke's reappearance in the galaxy, how we felt all the character's developed, which Kurosawa movies Rian Johnson was pulling from this time, where can Star Wars go from here, and why the shift away from traditional Star Wars structure was a breath of fresh air. Listen in and come at us :D

If you're upset that we haven't had a TV episode in awhile then you've just hit the Geekdom jackpot! Our guest for this catch up episode is a Senior Writer for TV Guide Magazine, an avid television watcher, moderates several TV panels at Cons, and just an all around delight. Damian Holbrook joins us to talk about all the TV he's been watching lately, gives us his quick ratings for most of the superhero television this season, and what he's excited about coming up! This is a good episode to catch whether you're a junkie like Derek, or wondering what TV shows are worth checking out like Myke.

Like Batman and Superman of the movies past, we knew we were going to be diving back into the DC Snyder-verse again and thought we would be doing battle. Naturally, we picked our friends DJ and James (previous of Jamesflix, currently of Gamesters Pairofdice) as sparring mates and prepared. We were surprised to find that our full review of Justice League would actually be mostly a love-fest. Of course or nerdy selves couldn't help but pick the movie apart and voice some serious criticisms, but like the riffing and joking around in the episode, it was mostly out of love!

Listen to James and DJ, along with previous guest Gabe and future guest Fernando, on the Gamesters Pairofdice videogame podcast, however you find your podcasts!

It's only appropriate that for the first episode of our next hundred that we just dive right back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for their 17th movie: 'Thor: Ragnarok'. Joining us on this Bifrost Bridge of spoilers is comic aficionado (like most of our guests) Gio Zumbado. We go into all the sources that this movie pulled from, all the liberties they took with the source material, and the dramatic (in how comedic it was) shift in tone from the previous Thor movies. FULL SPOILERS AHEAD.

If you know us then you'd know there is not that many more fitting guests that we could have had on for our 100th episode than composer Blake Neely. Not only does he compose several shows on television right now, including many of the DC TV shows like 'The Flash', 'Arrow', and 'Legends of Tomorrow', he also shares a lot of the same musical tastes as we do. Listen to us geek out with Blake about process, influences, post-rock bands, and much more!

Episode 99. Blade Runner 2049. It kind of makes sense. What makes more sense is that we were getting into our opinions about this movie with our guest Dana on Facebook and decided that we had to take this to podcast territory - because that's why we made this show to begin with! This is our FULL ON SPOILER-Y REVIEW of the new Blade Runner! We get really into it, even detailing how we'd fix certain things, and what specific shots we like. FULL. ON. SPOILERS. And of course Dana is back because he read the book!

In our strangely second killer clown themed horror movie episode of the year, Dana Keels joins us to jump into the sewers with Pennywise and guides us with his book reading knowledge of the Stephen King adaptation and his thoughts on how well the movie pulled it off! We get into spoilers from the jump, which shouldn't be a problem since its doing so well I have to imagine ALL our listeners have seen it already. But just in case you haven't - beware!

This podcast was recorded on September 3rd while Houston was still in the midst of Hurricane Harvey so we decided to check in on past guest, and good friend of the show Robert Bexar II to see how he was holding up. Thankfully he was doing well enough to share his perspective of the situation happening in Houston, as well as shed some light on some foundations and programs that have been helping out the best. Since we're geeks, we can't help but to talk about what entertainment he's been distracting himself with or just geekin' out on in general.

Just in time for the $9.95 a month Movie Pass price drop, our friend and fellow podcaster Albert Patrick joins us on the show to talk all things movies! If you don't know what MoviePass is (they're not a sponsor... btw) we go over those details, then we highlight all the wide release movies coming out in the fall and talk about what we're excited for, and what baffles us completely. That, and all the geeky tangents in between of course. Check out Albert's shows and reviews at whowhatwhereswhy.com and listen to his podcasts 'The Stuff and Junk Show' and 'Spoilers Pleeze'!

Before the creepy clown movie this fall comes out that you know about, and probably already have seen, check out our inside scoop on the newest indie horror project from our pal, friend of the show, and previous guest - Lance Paul. 'Crepitus' is the new film from Ginger Knight Entertainment, and joining us on this episode is the director Haynze Whitmore!

We talk with Haynze about his filmmaking influences, how hard it is for Lance to produce and act in the same project, the massive hurdles they had to overcome, and also a little bit about Haynze's first trip to Comic-Con! It's a great listen for anyone interested in making films, horror movies, or just nerds about the process in general.

Our long geek odyssies for the summer have now come to an end. For our illustrious guests, Tyler McPhail of The Grand Geek Gathering, and Dominick Dusseault of The Geek Lens join Derek in a discussion about this year's Comic-Con. It's a well rounded look as one of them spent all his time in Hall H, another one went to a lot of off-sites, and the other had his own panel! Find out who as they talk about all the highlights, lowlights, and news to geek out about. Then Myke goes through his weekend of partying at FYF Fest!

Jul 20, 2017

The Geekdom goes to the movies, again! This time we review the third Apes movie in the new Planet of the Apes trilogy: 'War of the Planet of the Apes' (the second movie about an ape that we've talked about on the podcast this year). 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' was one of our first podcast episodes, so it felt fitting to bring you our thoughts on this one. We also discuss the very chaotic week that we're heading into.

Jul 13, 2017

On the verge of her new NBC show, 'Midnight, Texas' showrunner Monica Owusu-Breen joins us on the podcast! We talk about what it was like to reunite with her old 'Alias' family at the 2017 ATX Television Festival, how it felt to write on that show, as well as many others (Lost, Fringe, Charmed, Revolution, Agents of SHIELD), and what it's like to be the showrunner for her own show. She also geeks out about JJ Abrams, Joss Whedon, and talks about the process of creating a show based off of the books by Charlaine Harris and what drew her to the world of 'Midnight, Texas'. It was an AMAZING conversation!

Catch the premiere of 'Midnight, Texas' July 24th at 10pm/9CT on NBC!

It's another day at the movies for the Geekdom Fancast boys, and hanging out in our backseat is our favorite Burger Lord, Greg Mucino! We all just saw 'Baby Driver' and wind through our thoughts of the movie, occasionally drifting off course, but all at a steady rhythm! If you still haven't seen it, the first hour or so is SPOILER FREE, and when we do talk about the end, we'll let you know and you can turn off the episode from there. Then obviously see the movie, and come back!

Jun 20, 2017

Derek brings you even more goodness from the ATX Television Festival! This time in the form of a roundtable interview he got to be a part of with the cast and showrunner of AMC's 'Fear of the Walking Dead'. Jun 17, 2017

Last week Derek took his annual summer pilgrimage to Austin and met up with friend of the show Dominick to attend the 2017 ATX Television Festival! Listen to them recap this year's ATX from Austin, TX. Derek also got to speak with Alison Brie and Betty Gilipin from the new GLOW Netflix series, as well as the creator Liz Flahive. Derek also sat down with actress, and future Supergirl villain, Odette Annable and one of the festival's co-founders Emily Gipson! It's a jam-packed episode about the most underrated geek celebration in the country!

Jun 8, 2017

Damsels do it their damn selves on this episode. Well, other than the fact that we couldn't book a female guest to save our lives. We'll just leave that up to Diana! In our hosts-only episode we talk all about Patty Jenkins' 'Wonder Woman'! It's a full on spoiler review, so make sure you've seen the movie first!

Derek also talks about all the nerd events that he's been attending recently, and does a mini review of 'Band-Aid' - which you should definitely check out!

May 25, 2017

If you listened to our beginning of the year movie preview, you got to admit we know our stuff. Okay, at least 75% of it. We're here again with our look into the next three months of movies, the 2017 summer film slate. This time joining us is two different God Hates Geeks writers, friends of the pod, and past guests Lance Paul, "The Traveling Nerd" and, the captain at God Hates Geeks himself, Travis Moody. With our GHG brethren we'll break down the release schedule, month to month, and talk about who the big winners are going to be financially and critically, and who'll end up in the Wal-Mart $5 dollar Blu-Ray bin by year's end.

May 9, 2017

It's already that time, a-holes. The SECOND Guardians of the Galaxy is already upon us. In order to commemorate the gang getting back together, we had a crossover episode with 'Marvel-less Marian' to talk about the now TWO time galaxy savers. We go into FULL SPOILER mode, so do not listen to ANYTHING without watching the movie yet, if for some reason you haven't seen it yet.

Apr 27, 2017

We're already getting into 2017's con and festival season! Doesn't time fly when you're geeking out? To commemorate the special occasion we had to call in Dominick to talk about this year's Paleyfest AND Wondercon. He and Derek go through all their expectations, experiences, surprises, and how they generally stack up compared to the Paleys and Wondercons of the past! If you've been before, and went this year, you can see what we thought about it! If you've never been before, you can hear what it's all about!

Mar 24, 2017

Before we get into all the geek events and summer movies and upcoming TV shows we had a chance to geek out in an area we never really talk about all too much on the podcast - music, with a focus on hip-hop specifically. Justin Muzack from Syndicate Radio, Organized Threat, and much more has joined us to talk about his time doing live radio, interviewing celebrities and heroes, producing music, selling beats to production companies for TV and movies,  and he even geeks out with us about music in general and, last but not least, the upcoming POWER RANGERS movie. Mar 1, 2017

What better way to recap an historic Oscar night that to have Eva and Sherice on our panel? We don't just talk about the shocking end to the night (but we do talk a lot about the shocking end to the night) but we run through what we thought of this year's batch of Academy nominated movies, how the ceremony was, entertainment politics, and Derek's time working as press at the actual ceremony! There's just as many fun surprises in our actual episode as there were at the Oscars!
