What better way to recap an historic Oscar night that to have Eva and Sherice on our panel? We don't just talk about the shocking end to the night (but we do talk a lot about the shocking end to the night) but we run through what we thought of this year's batch of Academy nominated movies, how the ceremony was, entertainment politics, and Derek's time working as press at the actual ceremony! There's just as many fun surprises in our actual episode as there were at the Oscars!
Karolin Luna joins us once again, but this time in the guest co-hosting chair as we welcome Ryan O'Nan to the podcast! There are so many things you may have seen him in, including his recent stint on Season 2 of Fargo and in Ray Donovan. Ryan talks to us about going from being in front of the camera on Fargo to working in the writer's room of the critically-acclaimed debut of the TV side of the X-Men Universe: Legion. We also discuss how he feels as a writer vs being an actor, how directing made him more sympathetic on the sets of other directors, and how Legion is doing it's own thing separate from Marvel's mutant movie franchises. It was a fun, amazing conversation that's a must listen for upcoming artists or even just fans!
Catch him on the new season of Queen of the South, and check out the movie he wrote coming to Netflix - Albion: The Enchanted Stallion.
Legion airs every Wednesday night on FX at 10 pm.
Joshua Malina belongs to a special class of actors who can deliver a standout dramatic performance one minute then nail a great comedic punchline the next. It's no wonder that some of his most notable roles were written for him specifically by the great Aaron Sorkin. We had the chance to talk to Josh at length about his blockbuster podcast 'The West Wing Weekly', how it feels to watch the show after an historic election, and how it's going to feel for him when he and his co-host Hrishikesh Hirway have to discuss his own performance as Will Bailey when they get to season four. Josh also spoke to us about his time both on 'The Thrilling Adventure Hour' and 'Sports Night' and how those projects scratched both his comedy itch, and his desire to get back to performing on stage again. We also talked about how he once saved Aaron Sorkin's life, his work with Mazon, playing poker, pranking Bradley Whitford, and whether or not he'd want to do a musical episode of 'Scandal'.
Scandal returns Thursday, January 26th at 9 p.m. on ABC and you can find 'The West Wing Weekly' on iTunes, or your podcatcher of choice - new episodes release every Wednesday.

Ever wanted to know what a TV and movie award show would be like in 'The Man in the High Castle' universe? Welcome to the Golden Globes 2017! I'm only joking (kinda) but we're still here, and we're still taking it for serious. Srsly. How could we not with Greg Mucino returning to the podcast?! Even if it was really the 'La La Land' awards, we still had opinions. Very belligerent, uncut ones - you know, the ones that really matter.
What'd you think of the awards? We'd love to hear from you @GeekdomFancast on twitter or facebook.com/TheGeekdomFancast!
For a whole host of reasons, 2016 wasn't quite the best year that we've collectively gone through in recent memory. Which is why it's important that we not deny you our annual 'Best of Last Year' list! It's just Myke and Derek, as per tradition, getting back to basics and geeking out over what our favorites in film and television for the past year.
Another year, another Star War! Former guests Lance Paul and Robert Bexar II join us to review the VERY FIRST ever theatrical release of a Star Wars Anthology film - you know, that Rogue One movie that you and everyone you know just saw this weekend? Lance and Robert are some of the biggest Star Wars geeks that we know so we just had to have them on to talk about Jyn Erso and her ragtag group of Magnificent Rebels. How does this hold up to last years The Force Awakens? Can this beat Return of the Jedi in Derek's eyes? What are some of the nerdy Easter eggs you may have missed? Tune in and find out!
When we initially invited Dana Keels to be on our podcast for his first solo guest episode, we figured we would talk to him about movies in general - but since he's one of the biggest Doctor Strange fans we know, we had to talk about the latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We ended up doing a full on review of Marvel's 'Doctor Strange', and Dana spits some knowledge about how the film compares to its comic book source material.
Then, being the nerds we are, we go into superhero movies in general. How do we feel about the MCU now? What about the DCCU?
Lastly, Dana pitches his awesome idea for a Guardians of the Galaxy / Thor -esque movie that DC can make from their properties. It's a return to geek form from us.
How many time have you said this in your life, "you haven't seen [insert whatever classic movie here]"? Well it turns out past guest, and friend of the show, Gabe hears it almost every time he hangs out with his friends. So much so that they had to make a podcast about it. Enter Jamesflix. Gabe, DJ (from the GREAT 'Gamesters Pair of Dice' podcast) and the titular James join us on the show to talk about all the movies we've missed in our lives, the overrated 'classics' and their show - Jamesflix! Check out Jamesflix, Gamesters Pair of Dice, and Comics Booze N' Profanity through iTunes on your favorite podcast app!
If you missed our crossover with God Hates Geeks earlier this week, here it is - just in time for episode 3 of 'The Walking Dead'. On this episode, Travis Moody and Richard Zom join us as we talk to Karl Makinen, or for anyone caught up with the show - Richard from the Kingdom! Karl talks with us about getting his start in acting, his thoughts on the episode, and what it was like being on set! SPOILERS for up to episode 2 of the Walking Dead!
Also, if you missed this episode, you must not be subscribed to the GodHatesGeeks podcast feed! Find it on whatever podcast app you use - almost every episode is produced and edited by Myke and frequently co-stars Myke and Derek!
Friend, comedienne, writer, and fellow geek, Eva Ceja joins us for another fun conversation about being a working creator and performer. We get into it about Second City, working on a network show, learning the heroes journey through Dan Harmon, with a whole lotta silliness in between. Eva's one of our funniest friends, and we're sure you'll have as much of a blast listening to her riff as we had riffing with her!
This is the kind of episode that we imagined The Geekdom Fancast to be from the jump - a conversation with a friend who is doing creative things that slowly segue's into a nerdy conversation about anything and everything. This week it's Robert Bexar II turn to join us IN PERSON to talk about his short film, turned pilot, 'Geek Haven'. He discusses the inspiration for the comedy, his process, and then basically about everything that he loves. Don't worry, we love it too. From comic book heroes to sitcoms of yesteryear, we had a blast just old fashion nerding out - and you will too!
Unofficial third and fourth chairs, Greg and Sherice, join us to talk about this year's Emmy Awards! We celebrate all of the surprise, first time winners. We get into the difference in the voting procedure for this year's awards. Observations are had, and side-eyed judgments are made. Also, Derek goes on one of his longest rants in podcast history.
Since the only real time you got to meet our friend Tyler was on a crossover episode, we decided to spend a whole hour talking about him, his geek history, and his opinion about this year's movies and much more! If you haven't already, check out Tyler's network The Grand Geek Gathering at TheGrandGeekGathering.com.
GGG already has 7 different podcasts covering a WIDE variety of fun topics including craft beer, anime, and video games. If you can't find something for you on GGG, well then you haven't really looked yet!
After collecting our thoughts for the last few weeks (and after Myke successfully survived a fiery hell and turned 30) we finally had the chance to sit down and really get into our San Diego Comic-Con 2016 experience. Dominick, our good friend from the Great White North, and Greg joined us to talk about the highs and lows of this year's SDCC. This is for the hardcore Comic-Con go-er, or the newb that wants to be really prepared for next year. We go in deep!
Since 2016's Nerd Superbowl is almost here, we had to get together with Travis Moody and Dana Keels for a God Hates Geeks crossover! We dive into everything San Diego Comic-Con. From the panels we're excited about to what's happening outside the convention floor, we've got it all!
Check out more of our coverage, as well as our other GHG friends, at GodHatesGeeks.com!
Our great friend Greg Mucino returns to the podcast in our now yearly summer episode all about burgers and summertime TV! Greg brings in his Foodcast to the Fancast to talk about this year's Burger Week at the Oinkster in Eagle Rock, CA -- practically a world famous burger joint at this point! Then, because we're still The Geekdom Fancast, we talk about what we've been thinking about this year's summer TV offerings.
Find and follow us on Instagram and Twitter @geekdomfancast to check out this episode's pictures! Recreate the burgers and tag is in a photo for a chance to win a VERY special prize!
Just in time for the debut of her new show 'Wrecked', the hilarious and talented Ginger Gonzaga joins us on this very special episode of the podcast! She talks to us about her many awesome roles on shows like 'Mixology' and 'Togetherness'. She also tells us about some fun pranks she did as a kid, and how she got into comedy. We even geeked out about what nerd TV and film she liked, and also got into the fact that it's weird that the Starbucks logo is a mermaid "presenting" herself. It's a fun and insightful conversation and it was one of the highlights of doing this podcast to have her on!
Watched 'Wrecked' on TBS every Tuesday at 10 p.m.!
Another year has gone by, which means Derek has made his pilgrimage once again to the ATX Television Festival in Austin, and this time he made sure to record his thoughts from Texas with the first friend of our podcast -- Dominick Dusseault! They break down the highs and lows of this year's ATX experience, including getting burgers with donuts for buns (yeah, I know --- what?!). Check out pics from the fest @geekdomfancast on Instagram!
If you missed this episode over at GodHatesGeeks.com, first of all - you're probably not following us on Facebook (facebook.com/TheGeekdomFancast), second of all - here it is on OUR feed! This episode we join forces with our editor, Travis Moody, over at God Hates Geeks to talk about the first couple of episodes of Preacher in a crossover with GHG's Preacher's Pit podcast show. Then we go all Geekdom Fancast with a heated conversation about X-Men: Apocalypse. Twice the geek for this week!
WARNING: FULL SPOILERS FOR BOTH PREACHER AND X-MEN!
If you want to listen to one segment and not the other, here are the time-stamps so you can skip ahead.
This week Derek and I have a little one on one sesh and go back, with Shane Black, to 1977. Let us know what you thought about the movie at facebook.com/TheGeekdomFancast or tweet us @GeekdomFancast!
